Editorial in Maturitas by Margaret Rees, Irene Lambrinoudaki, Antonio Cano, Tommaso Simoncini.
This 2019 editorial concludes that women should be able to discuss freely about the menopause and the impact on their personal and working lives and expect a holistic evidence-based approach from health professionals so that they can receive a management strategy suited to their needs. Management strategies range from diet and life style to hormonal and non-hormonal treatments. When women leave jobs, this has financial and cost implications for employers in recruitment, training of replacements and workforce planning. There is a very strong social responsibility case that women, like men, should be able to work for as long as they wish. They should not be unnecessarily hampered by menopause symptoms.
