Angela Maas is a cardiologist since 1988. Over the past 25 years she has specialized in heart disease in women.
Since May 2012 she holds a chair in ‘Cardiology for Women’ at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The main focus of her work are cardiac symptoms in women at middle-age and the role of female-specific risk factors in (early) heart disease.
In the past years she started an expert center for microvascular coronary disease at the Radboudumc. In 2015 she initiated the Dutch SCAD registry (coronary dissections) and she is now developing the theme cardio-oncology for women treated for breast cancer (2016).
She enjoys working with other disciplines such as gynecologists, oncologists, epidemiologists, other vascular disciplines and primary care.
Her aim is to widely implement a more gender sensitive cardiology care and to make the cardiology world friendlier for women.
She is listed since 2011 as one of the most powerful women in Dutch healthcare.
