EMAS MENOPAUSE WORKSHOP 14-15 OCTOBER 2011, FLORENCE
This fourth edition was held in Florence with the generous support of EMAS Education Partner, Pfizer. The 2011 two-day residential workshop was attended by 60 gynecologists across Europe (Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, Ireland).
To further its educational mission, EMAS distinguished faculty led case-based workshops on three topics:
• Irene Lambrinoudaki : post-menopausal osteoporosis
• Marco Gambacciani: menopausal symptoms (up-date)
• Serge Rozenberg: prevention of disease and quality of life at a crucial age for women
All of the sessions were webcasted and will be released to EMAS members over the course of spring 2012. Thanks to the grant from Pfizer, the osteoporosis case is being submitted for CME accreditation. This is yet another exclusive, educational benefit that will be available to EMAS members in 2012!

RESULTS OF CONSULTATIVe vote
In the month of March 2011 the EMAS Board of Directors invited all of its 2011 members to participate in a consultative vote to change the congressional cycle from every three years to every two years starting in 2012. By changing the congressional cycle, the Board hopes to increase EMAS’s visibility in their effort to provide optimal standards of care, as well as benefiting climacteric medicine.
An overwhelming majority of EMAS members voted in favor of changing the congressional cycle from every three years to two years.
Thank you to all of the members who participated in the vote. EMAS appreciates your input!
EMAS School 16-17 September, Istanbul
Attended by 30 gynaecologists the EMAS School on the management of post reproductive health in women was a great success, as evidenced by the responses to the follow-up survey. It was the third course organised for trainees by EMAS. The first course was organised in Barcelona and the second in Mangalia, Romania with the participation of Ann Gompel, Yoaquin Calaf, Juliana Ceausu, Marc Brincat and Serge Rozenberg. The three mentors of the last course: Mark Brincat, Irene Lambrinoudaki and Margaret Rees taught on osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, obesity and breast cancer. These are common health problems affecting the expanding, ageing female population. Both hormonal and non hormonal management strategies were discussed as well as diet and lifestyle and alternative and complementary therapies. Teaching was problem-based using case studies giving practical holistic guidance. The next EMAS school is planned for 2011 as part of EMAS’ mission to continue education in post-reproductive health.
