MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF EMAS

Dear colleagues,Members and Friends,

As the President Elect of the new board it is my privilege a to say a few words.

The last 8th European Congress on Menopause and Andropause - EMAS which was held in London May 16-20, 2009  was a huge success, and I would like to express all my gratitude to the British Menopause Society, chaired by Tim Hillard, as well as to the past EMAS board, chaired by David Barlow.

We also had a fantastic two day Seminar, for young physicians, on June 11-12, 2009 which was organised by in collaboration with AMMR - Romanian Medical Menopause Association represented by Professor Decebal Hudita and Dr Iuliana Ceausu, in Mangalia, Romania.

Following the great achievement of this seminar, the new board has decided to continue undertaking the organisation of teaching courses , and national societies who wish to participate in the organisation of such courses are invited to come forward.

We would like to further promote national menopause societies and to establish our visibility at many international meetings.

EMAS sessions or presentations have already taken place at the 2009 FIGO World Congress, Cape Town, in October 2009, at the 2009 Austrian Menopause Society, Vienna, in December 2009, and are planned to take place in the coming months at the European Congress Obstetric Gynaecology (EBCOG) in Antwerp on the 6th of May 2010 ; during  the COGI Meeting in Berlin, from 4th to 7th of November 2010; and during the IMS 13th World Congress  in Rome, from 8th to 10th of June 2011.

We will soon start working on the program of the 9th European Congress On Menopause and Andropause- EMAS in Athens, from 28th to 31st of March 2012.

During our last board meeting, we also decided that rather than having a meeting every three years, it will be much more viable for the society to organise it every two years.

The board will also regularly come up with position statements in climacteric medicine.

The first two position statements on the topics of Menopause and Obesity, and on Hormone treatment and epilepsy and menopause and endometriosis on behalf of the new board are already available online on our website.

Kinds regards,

Serge Rozenberg
